Frame with a Story
In the heart of Karnataka lies a city frozen in time—Hampi, the glorious capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. Once a thriving nucleus of art, culture, and power, its carved stone temples and royal pavilions whispered stories of splendor and spirit. Today, those whispers echo through the wind-carved ruins, resonating with the bold and rooted soul of India.
The Vijayanagara rulers, especially Krishnadevaraya, transformed Hampi into a thriving metropolis with impressive structures like the Virupaksha Temple, the Vittala Temple, and the stone chariot. Hampi was also a center for religious and cultural confluence, where Hinduism, Jainism, and Islam coexisted peacefully. However, despite its grandeur, Hampi’s fortunes took a dramatic turn in 1565 when the city was sacked by a coalition of Deccan Sultanates in the Battle of Talikota. The defeat marked the fall of the Vijayanagara Empire and the city was abandoned, left to crumble over time.
What remains today are the ruins, which have been meticulously preserved, offering a glimpse into the glorious past of the empire. Hampi’s captivating landscape, with boulder-strewn hills, the river Tungabhadra, and the ancient ruins, continues to attract tourists, archaeologists, and history enthusiasts, eager to explore the remnants of this once-great city.

Step into the soul of Karnataka’s ancient glory with VOJOS’ Hampi-inspired eyewear. Rooted in the heart of the Vijayanagara Empire, Hampi is a testament to India’s architectural brilliance, spiritual depth, and artistic legacy.
Each element of our design draws from iconic symbols of Hampi

Stone Chariot in Vittala Temple
Miniature Engraved Wheel Motif on the Temples of the Frame
Integrate a small, finely engraved chariot wheel at the hinge or temple tips, resembling the intricately carved wheels of the iconic stone chariot.
Material highlight: Use titanium or brushed metal to mimic stone texture

Musical Pillars
Vertical Grooved Lines with Textured Finish on the Temples
Add elongated, carved lines inspired by the flute-like form of the musical pillars. This can be done with tactile texture for a unique feel when worn.
This could be combined with a mild resonance element (vibration feedback) in future tech-enabled versions.

Pushkarani
Geometric Layered Patterns on the Inner Temples
Reflect the cascading symmetry of the stepwell through subtle, stepped pattern engravings along the inside arms or bridge of the frame.

Union of sight and hearing in an exceptional way
The intricate wheel motifs and layered silhouettes reflect the detailed stone carvings of Hampi’s temples, while the sandstone beige, oxidized bronze, and temple gold tones mirror the earth-worn palette of the ruins. Repetitive linework across the temples of the frame captures the symmetric and rhythmic beauty of centuries-old craftsmanship.
